Front-End Engineer, contract position
Juniper Networks is seeking an outstanding UI engineer to help design and develop the front end of our web applications. This position is for a self-motivated individual who enjoys technical challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Help develop and document global CSS/JavaScript architecture as it pertains to the implementation of an asset server.
- Collaborate with designers to develop brand appropriate, reusable UI components within existing style guidelines.
- Contribute the the upkeep and maintenance of an internal pattern library and UI guidelines resource.
- Implement user interfaces in XHTML/CSS/JavaScript/AJAX in a clean, reusable manner and provide insightful guidance on interaction design and usability.
- Translates wireframes/workflow/data elements into high-resolution UI design mockups using clean, standards compliant XHTML and CSS.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to determine technical specifications for web application user interfaces .
- Perform code reviews of the UIs developed by others
- 4+ years relevant work experience building RIA UIs
- Be able to experiment and create high-resolution UI prototypes from scratch with an emphasis on quality, standards compliant code.
- Expert knowledge of cross-browser & cross-platform (X)HTML, JavaScript and AJAX, Web Standards
- Expert, in-depth knowledge of CSS positioning, hierarchy, inheritance and (X)HTML/CSS architecture. Must be able to demonstrate effective uses of CSS and style inheritance, cross browser workarounds.
- Must be able to demonstrate a solid understating of the DOM.
- Experience in defining CSS/JavaScript architecture
- Familiarity with JavaScript/AJAX frameworks and libraries, particularly jQuery.
- Framework/library design, implementation, and maintenance experience a plus
- Experience with a versioning systems such as Subversion
- Knowledge of JSP, Java, and Java Servlets
- Experience with other scripting languages and frameworks a plus (ASP, perl, ruby, .NET).
