full time Web Developer (aka front-end or software app dev)

at Yahoo! in Silicon Valley, CA

Looking for a front-end developer to work on rich internet applications with lots of JavaScript (based on YUI), CSS, and html with all that AJAXy goodness. On the backend we'll primarily use PHP. We're targeting the latest browsers and developing cutting edge apps.

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and passionate application engineer to work on building the presentation layer for advanced user interfaces. You'll work with software engineers, product managers, interaction & visual designers, and marketers in a highly collaborative environment where everyone helps to define the product vision.

The environment is fast-paced with numerous user-centered iterative design & development cycles. You'll be responsible for building everything from proof-of-concepts and usability prototypes to deployment-quality code.

Minimum Job Qualifications

You should be able to personally demonstrate your abilities with demos, web sites, blogs, articles, or anything else that would establish your expertise with these technologies.

- At least 5+ years of work experience in software development
- At least 3+ years of work experience in web application development
- Extensive experience in DHTML (HTML & XHTML, JavaScript 1.0-1.5, CSS1 & CSS2, DOM Levels 0-2)
- Extensive experience in remote scripting & AJAX interactions (XmlHTTPRequest, iframes, node creation, JSON, etc)
- Extensive knowledge of cross-browser compatibility & browser degradation strategies
- Proven ability to design and architect complex applications involving extensive UI and application logic
- Previous work experience with client-side web standards (HTML, CSS, box model, etc)
- Previous work experience with PHP, JSP, ASP, or other similar scripting languages
- Previous work experience with Apache, server caching & proxy issues, HTTP, and other web application issues
- Comfort ability working in a Unix environment
- Deep understanding of object-oriented and event-driven programming
- Knowledge of web services (XML-RPC, SOAP, REST, etc)
- BSCS/MSCS or equivalent work experience
