You will work as a member of the Fluid Project’s team of agile front-end developers. The environment is fun and fast-paced, with an emphasis on collaborative inclusive design and development. You will work with architects, developers, and designers to build interactive and accessible web applications. Experience with the following technologies is required:
- HTML
- CSS
- Progressive enhancement and graceful degradation
- JavaScript
- AJAX
- At least one JavaScript toolkit, such as jQuery, Dojo or Prototype/Scriptaculous
You will collaborate with interaction designers and testers to ensure that the implemented user interfaces are highly usable, accessible, visually appealing, and efficient. This work is often written and shared in the context of collaborative, open communities.
The overarching goal of the ATRC is to help ensure that emerging information technology and practices are designed inclusively from the very beginning. We define inclusive design as design that enables and supports the participation of individuals and groups representing the full range of human diversity. We see disability as a mismatch between the needs of the individual and the service, education, tools or environment provided and accessibility as the adaptability of the system to the needs of each individual. Our research, development, education and service are all grounded in this principle.
