Front-end Javascript Software Engineer

Zvents is looking for a front-end web engineer who is an expert in Javascript and web development.
Do you enjoy pushing the limits of what Javascript can do? Do you think of Javascript as a true object-oriented language, powerful enough to build entire applications (and not just a glorified browser event handler)? Do you also love Ruby on Rails, not just for simple web apps but also extending it in crazy new ways? Are you a rock- solid production coder, a genius hacker, or better yet both? Want to work on a cool project with great people? Zvents, the leading local events search engine, is looking for you.
You will have:
- 3+ years of software or web development experience
- Expertise in building and maintaining web pages using HTML, CSS, and object-oriented JavaScript
- Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks, including Ajax networking (preferably jQuery, but also MochiKit, YUI, Dojo, etc.)
- Strong knowledge and at least 1-3 years experience in Ruby on Rails
- Knowledge of DOM manipulation (beyond innerHTML)
- Experience with cross-browser development and testing
- Understanding of how to create high-performance web pages
- Working knowledge of source control software (Git, Subversion, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Graphic Design or related field
- Great communications skills
It’s even better if you:
- Can be self-directed and contribute meaningfully with minimal management
- Can contribute ideas and energy to the whole product development process, including brainstorming, specification, implementation, testing and tuning
- Have an eye for usability, style, and design
- Have an inclination for test-driven development
