GUI Engineer

We are currently looking to add a GUI Engineer to the Synacor Team. The GUI Engineer will work with a team of designers, UI and back-end developers to help implement the Synacor product interface. The developer needs to have a strong understanding of engineering concepts, such as object oriented design, in PHP and JavaScript. The focus of these skills should be on UI-related engineering. Responsibilities:
• Code HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP applications and libraries for UX projects
• Ensure adherence to Synacor coding standards
• Work with UI Developers to develop, revise, improve front-end interfaces
• Assist in writing technical requirements documents (TRD’s) for UX projects
• Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll need to bring to the table:
• Related 4 year degree preferred (Web/Graphic Design, Human Factors, Comp Sci)
• 3 years of professional experience with graphical user interface design and implementation for web applications and websites required
• Detailed understanding of how the internet and related technologies work
• Expertise in xHTML, JavaScript, PHP, and CSS a must. jQuery , AJAX, SQL, SOAP, Photoshop and or Fireworks and Flash desired.
• General knowledge of human factors/usability issues and limitations surrounding web based interfaces preferred
• Ability to articulate ideas and design strategies in written, verbal, and graphical forms; build functional prototypes
• Excellent attention to detail along with an ability to work directly with internal teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet set deadlines
• Work well as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Experience producing finished applications from technical and product documents
