full time Interaction Developer

at Atlassian in Sydney, Australia

Job description:

  • Drive the UI of a popular developer tool as it gets an extreme makeover
  • Utilize the latest technologies to create compelling functionality
  • Make your left and right brains both earn their keep.

Does this sound like you? Awesome user interfaces make you hot and sweaty. You can discuss at length what makes GMail (and other web apps) different. Poor usability dives you nuts. You know what RIA means, even if you think it’s a redundant term. You know what GWT, AJAX, Flex, YUI, JQuery and Prototype are, even if you haven’t used them.

Whilst you may be coder OR a designer, you really want to do both and are happy to work with both. You think apps should be great looking and pixel perfect, but not at the cost of being fast and easy to use.

Required skills:

  • Passion for usability
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of web technologies (css, html, http, etc)
  • End-to-end capabilities (concept, design, code)

Preferred skills:

  • Javascript / AJAX / DOM manipulation
  • Java / JSP
  • Ruby/Python/Perl/PHP a bonus

You don’t have to be a hard core coder, but you do need some background and a desire to work with code. We will be flexible for the right person, young/old engineer/designer — it doesn’t matter if you can convince us you have the vision.

More about us:

We match the big players in terms of competitive salary and benefits and still are able to offer huge LCD screens, large desks, ergonomic Aeron chairs, choice of computing platform (max/pc/unix), poker tournaments and Wii game nights, indoor bike racks/showers and awesome company events.

With offices in Sydney, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Gdansk, we offer global opportunities for development and the chance to work with like minds from different cultures.
