OpenSocial JS Ninja for MySpace
at Fox Interactive Media in Seattle, WA
The OpenSocial container team at MySpace Seattle is in need of a JS ninja.
Software Development Engineer
Social Networking is one of the hottest sectors on the web in recent years. MySpace.com has emerged as the definitive leader in this space and is the highest trafficked site on the Internet in less than two years since launch and we’re still growing. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who wants a fun yet fast paced environment and the ability to take their development knowledge, skills, and innovation to the next level. The engineering team at MySpace.com focuses on performance and scalability to a degree that most engineers have never had a chance to experience.
The Seattle-based development organization is in need of Software Development Engineers with software engineering knowledge and experience in C#/.NET 3.5 technology including ASP.NET, n-tier application design and architecture, and Web-based development. This position will have a heavy focus on object-oriented JavaScript. Use of Visual Studio.NET and development lifecycle tools such as Team Foundation Server, source repositories, build engines, defect-tracking software, and associated debugging and profiling tools are strongly preferred. Experience with designing and delivering highly available and scalable architectures and knowledge and/or practical experience with development lifecycle models using agile development practices such as Scrum are a plus.
Job responsibilities will include the design, implementation, and delivery of feature-rich, Web-based components written using C# and client-side technologies (OO-JavaScript, JSONP) with the 3.5 .Net Frameworks using Visual Studio.NET 2008. The features will be derived from customer requirements and are manifested in product development specifications, emails, and other communications. The Software Development Engineer will work with their assigned development team to ensure completion and timely delivery of all coding requirements within a negotiated timeframe following the Scrum agile development lifecycle model. Unit tests, source control management, database requirements, and associated IP will be managed and debugged by the engineer from inception through testing (including staged system) and production systems.
Required Skills/Experience:
• 2+ years of relevant ASP.NET/.NET Framework programming experience
• 3+ years of C# and/or C++ experience
• 3+ years of coding/testing/debugging experience
• 1+ year of cross-platform web development using CSS, HTML and JavaScript
• 1+ year of deep object-oriented JavaScript
Preferred but not required Experience:
• Solid foundation in n-tier, Business Objects, Design Patterns, and general OOP
• Knowledge of IIS6/7 and Windows internals
• Agile Software Development (including Scrum)
• Visual Studio 2005/2008 (including Team System)
• Knowledge of XHR, JSON, JSONP
• Familiarity with W3C standards and browser DOM implementations
