JQuery Hierarchical Table Sorter

Development of a custom JQuery plugin or customizing the jquery.tablesorter plugin to handle hierarchical table sorting. There are a couple of javascript based solutions out there that are have some traits that are required, but do not meet all the requirements, for example:

The only working example I've found that pretty much meets the requirement is at:

but this uses a completely new javascript library, not at all something that I want to introduce into our application (not mention the extra cost). We've standardized on jquery (and tablesorter) and I'd like to keep it that way if possible.
Is anyone available to do some consulting work now, modifying the tablesorter plugin or developing one from scratch that will sort like the last example I cited above?
