full time Social Media Startup seeks UI Development Ninja!

MyHappyPlanet, one of the fastest-growing startup companies in Cambridge, is the site that connects language learners around the world so that they can teach and learn from each other through peer-to-peer learning and user-generated content. In just a few months, MyHappyPlanet has grown to over 250,000 members from 212 countries around the world.

We are currently looking for a talented UI Web Developer to implement new product features. This is a key role in a small and fast-paced startup, where each person is given a lot of responsibility and is expected to perform at a high level. If you are passionate about building great products, hold high expectations for yourself and your team, and want to be part of an exciting ground floor opportunity, this may be the position for you.

We are seeking a candidate who has experience in leading the implementation of web applications, is skilled in database design, and has a passion for creating a superb user experience.

The successful candidate will possess:
•3-5 years experience in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)-based page, architecture, application and systems design. Bonus points are given for using an MVC framework like ZendPHP or CakePHP;
•Experience building websites using highly reusable, abstract, OOP code;
•Expertise in cross-browser development (IE, Firefox, Safari) web usability, and interface design;
•Solid understanding of design, coding and testing patterns;
•Javascript/AJAX/dhtml experience. Bonus points for prototype/scriptaculous/jquery;
•CSS master – DIVs; not tables;
•A great sense of humor
