Services and Software unit is the growth engine for Nokia’s business. The unit delivers new, profitable Ovi-branded services that delight consumers and enterprises, increase the value of Nokia’s devices and fundamentally change the perception of Nokia in the market. The team creates a combined device and internet experience that people fall in love with. The Development and Delivery organization is the R&D arm of Services and Software. It is glued tightly to the three service lines creating and operating end-to-end services directly for the consumer and business user. Development and Delivery also manages the technology architecture and discovers new innovative technologies. Ovi is Nokia’s internet services brand. It enables consumers to easily access their existing social network and content, acting as a dashboard to a person’s life. In Development and Delivery, you can be part of creating the future of all Nokia Ovi-branded services.
Work as a software engineer on a core R&D team. Complete software design and development tasks. Create unit tests for the work product. Work closely with product management, usability experts, and system architects on requirements and design. Work closely with the QA team to ensure the quality of the work product.
Main Responsibility Areas
Works in a product creation project with possible responsibility of a small component of a product. Works according to given tasks, along with the product process as well as the existing design instructions. Solves enies knowgineering problems. Applledge and experience to determine root cause.
Environment
Semi routine tasks of moderate complexity requiring some discretion and judgment. Carries out tasks/activities according to assignment and set guidelines. Moderate degree of supervision and coaching needed.
Impact
Accountable for quality and accuracy of own oontribututput. Responsible for cion to teamwork. Errors may have impact on function/project/customer.
Key Tasks
Has collegial responsibility for designing as a member of the team. Needs some guidance in defining own tasks. Has understanding of the environment, to which his/her work belongs, e.g. terminal system.
Individual Portfolio
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Engineering.
Experience in e-commerce applications or social networking applications a plus. Experience with Agile and SCRUM SDLC methodologies a plus. Experience in Java programming a plus. Experience in Web-building technologies, including W3C standards like HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML and other technologies like JavaScript, PHP, ASP, SQL a plus. Experience with Rich-Internet application techniques such as AJAX, Adobe Flash, Flex, and Silverlight also a plus
