freelance Senior Web Developer / Web Architect - Javascript Expert

AKQA is looking for a world-class web developer to work onsite in Berlin for 3 months (with possible extension) commencing 1 March 2010.

The Senior Web Developer / Web Architect will work alongside an extremely talented developer and industry notable.

This role will help define the future of a leading mobile provider’s service and requires an industry heavyweight. You will be responsible for maintaining client-side components of development projects and defining and implementing innovative web-based solutions and development strategies.

Must-haves:
- Expert knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS for webapps and webapp UI (not just web layout).
- Deep understanding of web standards & technologies, HTTP, Ajax, REST and JSON.
- Familiar with diverse client-side JavaScript frameworks. Expert in at least one of JQuery / Mootools / DoJo, etc.
- Experienced with good software engineering practices, including the application of patterns and unit testing.
- A solid foundation/understanding of interaction design principles.
- Experience developing web standards-based mobile apps.
- Passionate about web development and up to date with the latest developments in their field.
- Exceptional communicator, used to dealing with both technical and non-technical clients.
- Comfortable working and iterating directly with designers.
- Highly motivated and self-driven.
- Pragmatist: used to iterating quickly; not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Ideally:
- Experience building apps that involve people, place and time.
- Demonstrated expertise of more than one programming language (as well as JavaScript).
