Mixpanel is a real-time analytics service that helps companies understand how users interact with web applications. We’re located in Mountain View, California and have raised money from Y Combinator and completed an additional round of seed funding (unannounced). We analyze data from companies you may have heard of such as HotOrNot, Kiva, GetSatisfaction, and Posterous.

Everyone at Mixpanel wears lots of hats meaning you’ll be doing many different things, from tweaking front-end UI to helping scale our system that already handles billions of requests. We use a mix and match of traditional technology and bleeding edge software: nginx, Django, memcached, git, Thrift, MySQL, Python, Erlang, “NoSQL” open source software, etc.

Both founders are developers and we’re looking for another engineer who can help us develop a strong engineering culture. As one of our first hires you will have a huge impact on the product and the company itself.

Responsibilities

You will have total ownership of pieces of product you ship to our production environment. At times you may find yourself writing a feature front (UI) to back (backend). This is a position of significant responsibility and has the potential to grow into a strong leadership role within the company.

Qualifications

• Python or an equivalent language (e.g. Ruby, PHP, Java, etc.).
• Proper experience with a UNIX environment
• Experience with version control (git is a plus)
• Significant experience with Javascript. Understanding of OO concepts is a major plus.
• Experience with MySQL
• Understanding of distributed systems is a plus
• You should be flexible to try new technology and actively learn things on your own.
• You need to have built something that you are proud to show us
