at Onalytica in London, UK
SQL Server DBA – salary up to £45-65,000 DOE
Effective use of databases play a key role in Onalytica’s quest to transform the online debate into valuable insight. We have approximately 65 TB of storage and anticipate this to grow beyond 100 TB by the end of the year. The growth is likely to be ever increasing. We own and operate our own hardware in a state-of-the art data centre.
We are looking to recruit a SQL Server DBA to work closely with both our development and operations teams to ensure the overall quality of our database operations.
This is a rare opportunity to work with very large data stores within a highly transactional environment.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Leading database design, query/performance tuning.
• Providing guidance and support for developers in relation to data access
• Analysing data growth and storage requirements
• Working with our data centre operations team to test new cutting edge hardware
In order to be considered for this position, you will have:
• Expertise in SQL Server 2008, especially T-SQL
• Experience within a highly transactional environment
• Experience in software development against large databases on SQL Server
• A good understanding of SQL Server architecture, administration and security
• Experience in different storage technologies such as SAN, Raid, NAS
• Experience in all traditional tasks and responsibilities of being a SQL Server DBA
Skills/Personal Attributes Required:
• You eat, drink, sleep SQL Server 2008 and would love to be part of an enthusiastic top-notch development team
• A mature but energetic personality
• The ability to take direction
• Strong work ethic
• Enjoys working and socialising in a team environment
